It is now showing on the Fox channel, and Pearl channel (3 months behind).

In almost all American TV drama and movie, the President of US is almost a hero. Fox is the most pro government TV channel, and it doesn't suprise me that the President in the previous seasons are decent, brave, etc etc.

In this season, president Logan is a jerk. He couldn't stand pressure, couldn't make sound decision, and, he is the one who behind the big conspiracy! And yes, the conspiracy is related to oil and war.

You may say it's creative. But I see the public image of Bush administration is deteriating.

Digital Lens

The Pentax has her how version of digital only lens, called the DA series. On screen, photos from my DA lens shows higher in contrast and sharper then 'old' lens designed for film.

I took some family photos to print on 4R. They were all in jpeg original, no processing by me. Had a close look on the photos, I find that after photo print, photos from old design lens eg. Tokina 80-200/2.8, M50/1.4, A28/2.8 looks better.

I guess it's the small size of a 4R photo making resolution less important.

Critics say the earth actually has a vast among of oil reserve, just that we havn't discovered it. Try 'new oil field' on google and you will find 1 million pages. Oh yes, the world is 70% ocean and we havn't even explore 5% of the sea.

What's the truth? I honestly don't know. But even we have abandon reserve of oil on earth, peak oil will eventually come, thou I may not live long to see it. It's good to look into the problem even if peak oil will be a centuries away.

Fish and Chips Dinner

Big Fish in Victoria Harbour

Been to TST for dinner a few days back. I was sitting by the window and have a nice lookout to the seaside just outside the Pacific Club. A man was fishing with a rod. It was dark, and I was quite far away, so could have a clear vision. Suddenly, to my amazment, I saw his pray: it was a 2 or 3 feet long fish!! And there was 3 of them!!

Later I ask some friend who know about fishing, and they said it's probably 鱸魚 (Perch?).

I am a man who never go fishing, and I was amazed.

Internet Censorship in China

Google has agreed to censorship in it's .cn search engine.

Internet censorship is a fact in China. Agree to bind by it is another story. Google can argue that with the .cn domain, the 100M internet users will have access to the best search engine (I have no objection in this) and thus encouraged the flow of information. Yet, it is the flow of incomplete information, which the big-brother agreed as what-you-can-know. People will never know the other side of the story. The more incompleted information, the more the truth is biased.

That's how history was twisted.

And I disagree to such decision. Shame on you, Google.

今晚約左人係旺角晚飯, 飯前去左睇下d amp. 始終對大陸野有d唔放心, 俾5K 去買大陸野不如俾多少少買外國貨. 聽左 NAIM 合併機 (配 Pro Ac), 無咩野好彈. 幾細緻低音控制幾好. 小問題係高音較突兀 (可能未 warm-up, 又可能 speaker 未 run-in). 不過亦唔會有咩大驚喜. 8-9k 算係咁.

又見有一部 Sugden 純A類合併. 折實價比 Naim 貴幾舊水, 都可以考慮. 不過要下次有較長時間煲完部 class-A 再試先有意思.

諗諗下... 俾錢買鏡頭不如買 amp 好過. 反正十幾支鏡都用唔晒.

Cracks on trains derailed minds. Not the trains.

Our 'honorable' LEGCO member Andrew Cheng today suggested to set-up a new department to handle safety issues of KCRC. Stupid idea! Oh yes, he doesn't mention the department should handle the safety issue for all public transportation. Stupid x stupid!

A railway system is complicated and largely tailored to itself. Staff of the KCRC had been worked there for long, and are quite familar with KCR railway system. getting a bunch of outsiders, no matter how expert they are, don't help to do the job better. The problem lies entirely on the management side. Intervention of outsider monitoring department, on the otherhand, would only put pressures on front line and provides an additional excuse the KCRC top managements.

TBZ said he wanted to do something on the culture of KCR, but unsuccessful. That's your ability problem. That's your leadership problem. You just don't have the flair.

Incidents like this will continue to happen. Not because the drivers are not good enough. They don't need to do that for years, but the managements required them to take this skill-demanding job overnight. What can you expect?

A nice audio amplifer manufacturer in China. Our friend Peter carried a suite of Pre-amp and Power-amp at his hi-fi showroom, and he highly praised it.

I listened to a Jungson class-A integrated amp last Sunday, like it. Class-A is said to be the holy-grail design amps, and a class-A of 80W+80W can rock your apartment. At 5K something, it's a good deal.

The local hi-fi internet forums also praised highly a Jungson AV Power amp.

The only concern is reailbility over time.

Also tested another Chinese class A amp, Cayin. This is also a famous Chinese brand, not bad too. But the Jungson is just better than Cayin - clearier in the sound stage positions and more comfortable in hi-freq.

Radio Transmitter

It works like this: plug it in the earphone jack of your what-so-ever sound player, it transmit the sound to your car stereo via FM signal. You just use your car radio and tune in for the transmitter's freq.

It costed approx. 300RMB when I saw it in SZ last year. Now you can find one under HK$100 at MK. I get one, and use it with my shuffle when I drive to and from work.

It works as expected.
